1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using the HERI Africa platform, you agree to these terms of use. If you do not agree, you should not create an account or use the platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You must provide accurate information when registering. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
3. Acceptable use
- Use the platform only for legitimate research funding purposes.
- Provide accurate and truthful information in all applications.
- Respect the confidentiality of review assignments and scoring.
- Declare conflicts of interest honestly and promptly.
- Do not share your account credentials with others.
- Do not attempt to access data you are not authorised to view.
- Do not use the platform to harass, discriminate, or deceive.
- Do not attempt to disrupt or compromise platform security.
4. Applications and submissions
You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all content you submit. Plagiarism, falsification of data, or misrepresentation of qualifications may result in immediate disqualification and account termination. Submitted applications become part of the permanent audit record and cannot be deleted while an opportunity is active or under review.
5. Reviews and confidentiality
If you serve as a reviewer, you agree to maintain confidentiality of all application content. You will not share, copy, or use application content for any purpose outside of the review process. You will declare any conflicts of interest before beginning a review.
6. Intellectual property
You retain ownership of all content you submit through the platform. By submitting, you grant HERI Africa a licence to process, store, and share your content with authorised reviewers and administrators for the purpose of evaluating your application. The HERI Africa name, logo, and platform design are the property of HERI Africa and may not be used without permission.
7. Data and privacy
Your use of the platform is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you consent to the data practices described in that policy.
8. Service availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance is announced in advance. Your application progress is saved automatically, but you should allow sufficient time before deadlines to account for potential connectivity issues.
9. Account suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, compromise platform integrity, or pose a security risk. Staff access is granted on a time-bound basis and may be revoked at any time with a recorded reason.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
